Priority Vehicle Passing System
Priority Vehicle Passing System is an application that helps vehicles with superiority of pass such as ambulance and fire brigade reach their destination in the fastest way without wasting time in traffic.
The Central Traffic Management System (METIS), which is the user interface of the Dynamic Junction Management System CHAOS™ application, monitors the positions of vehicles with right of way in real time, and as soon as these vehicles approach any signalized intersection, it communicates with the Dynamic Junction Control Unit CENTRIS at the relevant intersection. It ensures that the green light is lit in the direction appropriate to the direction of progress. In this way, it is ensured that vehicles with crossing superiority leave the signalized intersections with minimum delay time and reach their destination as soon as possible.
No modifications are made to ambulance or fire trucks for the implementation of the Priority Vehicle Passing System. Since the system works by obtaining coordinates from the GPS already available in such vehicles, an external sensor/transmitter is not installed on the vehicles. Low cost control units produced by ISSD are used for the system to send commands to the Junction Controller.
